Silhouette portrait artist Jean Comerford will be visiting the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick on Friday and Saturday, June 8-9, 2012, 9-4PM. Jean carries on a tradition begun in the 18th century to capture the profiles of individuals using a very sharp pair of scissors and a piece of black paper. Facing her subjects who sit in profile she snips away remarkable resemblances of her subjects. The silhouette is then mounted to a white card, matted and framed. Frames and framing can be done on premises and are available for an extra fee. Single portraits are $30, duplicates $10 each. You may come to either the Historical Society's gift shop, open Thursday-Sunday, and see one of these framed silhouettes or stop by the A.W. Buckbee Center where we also have others on display. Proceeds to benefit the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick. To make your reservation, as desirable 5 minute sitting times will go fast, call 845-986-3236, or email us at whs@warwick.net.
