On Saturday, October 6 from 11am-4pm, seventy distinguished authors and illustrators of books for children and teens will gather on Railroad Avenue in Warwick, NY to meet readers and autograph their books, which will be available for purchase on-site. Admission is free and all are welcome. The Uncle Brothers will perform a free concert on Railroad Green at noon. There will also be activities for children such as crafts, storytime and the opportunity to read to a trained therapy dog. For complete festival details, visit warwickchildrensbookfestival.org, and follow the Festival on Facebook. The event is welcoming and family-friendly: Railroad Avenue will be closed to traffic and the area is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Apple orchards and farm markets are within short driving distance of the Festival, making it possible to enjoy an entire day of activities in the Village and Town of Warwick. In the event of rain, the Festival will be held instead at Warwick Valley Middle School: 225 West Street, Warwick, from 11am-4pm, and an announcement posted on the Festival’s website. The Warwick Children’s Book Festival is an annual event presented by Albert Wisner Public Library, which was named Best Small Library in America 2016 by Library Journal and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes are the principal sponsors of the Festival, with additional support provided by the Village of Warwick.
