On Saturday, October 7 from 11am-4pm, sixty distinguished authors and illustrators of books for children and teens will gather on Railroad Avenue in Warwick, NY to meet readers and autograph their books, which will be available for purchase on-site. The event is free and open to children of all ages who share a love of the printed word. The Uncle Brothers will present a free concert on Railroad Green at noon. There will also be activities for children such as crafts, storytimes and the opportunity to read to a trained therapy dog. For complete festival details, visit warwickchildrensbookfestival.org. The event is welcoming and family-friendly: Railroad Avenue will be closed to traffic and the area is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Several apple orchards and farm markets are within short driving distance of the festival, making it possible to enjoy an entire day of activities in the village and town of Warwick. In the event of rain, the Festival will be held instead at Warwick Valley Middle School: 225 West Street, Warwick, from 11am-4pm. Ample parking is available there. The Warwick Children’s Book Festival is an annual event presented by Albert Wisner Public Library and sponsored by Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes and the Village of Warwick. Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe is the bookseller for the event.
