From the time that George Washington marched up King’s Highway from Philadelphia to Newburgh, Warwick has always been a welcoming destination point for travelers in need of food, drink and a warm bed for the night.
There are receipts that attest to the General’s patronage of Baird Tavern which, since preserved by the Warwick Historical Society over the past 25 years, looks today much as it did 250 years ago to the weary traveler. At that time Baird Tavern did a brisk business due to the importance of the well-traveled crossroads on which it stands.
Warwick’s great history of hospitality continues with the Society’s Annual Tavern Night at Baird’s Tavern on Sunday March 19th from 6-9pm. This year’s event is extra special as we will be kicking off year-long celebrations for the 250th Anniversary of the Tavern!
Delicious pub food will be generously provided by local restaurants and Society members. Craft beer, wine and other beverages will be flowing and music by Mike Baglione and Anne Loeb will set the tone for a great celebration.
