On Saturday, October 12 from 11am-4pm, about seventy distinguished authors and illustrators of books for children and teens will gather on Railroad Avenue in Warwick, NY to meet readers and autograph their books, which will be available for purchase on-site. Admission is free and all are welcome to come celebrate children’s literacy and love of the printed word. The Uncle Brothers will perform a free concert for children on Railroad Green at noon. There will also be activities for children such as crafts, the opportunity to read to a trained therapy dog. This year the Festival will feature Sign Language Storytime at 11:30am. Local teens will perform 2 picture books, selected from those available at the Festival, in American Sign Language. For complete festival details, visit warwickchildrensbookfestival.org, and follow the Festival on Facebook. The event is welcoming and family-friendly: Railroad Avenue will be closed to traffic and the area is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Apple orchards and farm markets are within a short driving distance of the Festival, making it possible to enjoy an entire day of activities in Warwick. In the event of rain, the Festival will be held instead at Warwick Valley Middle School: 225 West Street, Warwick, from 11am-4pm. (An announcement will be posted prominently on the Festival’s website and on Facebook if the location is changed.)
